Suresh Puttagunta, a trustee of the TANA Foundation, actively participated in COVID-19 relief efforts in the Telugu states. He distributed 8,000 masks, essential items, and vegetables to 500 individuals, including frontline workers. Additionally, he supported 75 Brahmin families and priests with provisions. His efforts exemplify TANA's commitment to aiding those in need during the pandemic.
TANA Mid-Atlantic Team, along with the Harrisburg Team, organized a lunch distribution for the staff at UPMC Pinnacle Health Hospital as a gesture of gratitude for their dedicated service to COVID-19 patients. Sponsored by Venkata Rao and Praveen Nelluri, the event was supported by TANA leadership, including President Jay Talluri and Board Chairman Harish Koya. Lunches were provided from Parivaar Indian Restaurant.
Under the aegis of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA), essential items were distributed to differently-abled individuals in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The event, held in Kothagudem Town, benefited approximately 500 individuals, reflecting TANA's dedication to supporting vulnerable communities.
Amid the COVID-19 crisis and lockdown, the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) and the TANA Foundation stepped forward to support struggling underprivileged families. They distributed essential supplies to 500 poor families near Kamayyathopu Katte in Vijayawada.
TANA conducted COVID-19 relief activities in Hanuman Junction, Vijayawada, distributing rice bags worth ₹75,000 under the guidance of TANA New Jersey Regional Coordinator Raja Kasukurthi. Additionally, 2.5 quintals of rice were donated to the Ashajyothi School for the Mentally Challenged and a school for the hearing-impaired.
The TANA Foundation, with the support of former TANA President Satish Vemana, conducted food distribution for 1,500 tribal residents in the remote villages of Marripalem and Chintala in Srisailam, Prakasam district. Despite logistical challenges, the team reached these areas during the COVID-19 lockdown, offering much-needed assistance. Tribal residents expressed gratitude to Satish Vemana, Jay Talluri, Niranjan Srungavarapu, and ISKCON for their support.
The TANA Mississippi division recognized the exceptional frontline services provided by Baptist Medical Hospital staff to COVID-19 patients. In appreciation, the team arranged a lunch for the medical staff. This initiative was coordinated by Dr. Sudheer Reddy Tangella and Dr. Ajay, with leadership from TANA Mississippi representative Shashank Yarlagadda.
TANA and the Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA) jointly donated 400 face shields to the staff of Tri-City Health Center in Fremont to aid in COVID-19 protection. TANA President Jay Talluri, Foundation Chairman Niranjan Srungavarapu, and EVP Anjayya Chowdary Lavu supported the initiative. Bay Area TANA leaders expressed gratitude to Fremont City Council Member Raj Salwan and Jayaram Komati for their contributions.
The TANA Atlanta team organized a dinner to honor and appreciate the medical staff serving COVID-19 patients.
As part of this initiative, the team hosted a dinner for the staff at Northside Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in Georgia. This gesture was aimed at recognizing and thanking the healthcare workers for their invaluable efforts during the pandemic.
TANA Secretary Ravi Potluri, along with Muppa Rajasekhar of Balaji Canteen, supported the poor in Kurnool during the COVID-19 crisis by distributing masks, sanitizers, and meal packets. The initiative lasted over 62 days and extended to Jogulamba Gadwal district in Telangana.
On May 18, 2020, essential items were distributed to approximately 6,000 families in Old City, Kurnool.
On May 21, similar aid was extended to around 2,000 families in villages like Sugali Mitta and Rambhoopal Tanda in Panyam Mandal. The distribution was carried out through Panyam MLA Katasani Rambhoopal Reddy, ensuring the support reached the needy effectively.
