As part of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) initiatives, school bags were distributed to 250 children in Dallas under the "Backpacks Program." TANA President Jay Talluri participated in the event, emphasizing that TANA has been organizing numerous service programs for the community. He highlighted that this initiative is aimed at distributing school bags to underprivileged students across America. He also appreciated the efforts of the TANA-TANTEX team for successfully organizing the program.
Under the leadership of the TANA West Team, school bags were distributed to underprivileged children in Newark, California. Approximately 384 bags were distributed at H.A. Snow Elementary School. Former TANA President Jayaram Komati handed over the bags to the students.
The TANA World Literary Forum conducted a seminar on "The Role of Muslims in the Glory of Telugu Literature" on July 26, 2020 via Zoom. Several writers discussed the significant contributions of Muslim poets and writers to Telugu literature.
TANA President Jay Talluri emphasized that Telugu literature's richness is the result of the efforts of numerous poets from diverse backgrounds. Contributions from figures like Umar Alisha, who brought new rhythms to Telugu poetry, and Ismail, known for his literary criticism, were highlighted. Modern poets like Devipriya and others have also played a key role in enriching Telugu literature. The event celebrated the invaluable role of Muslim writers in shaping the legacy of Telugu literature.
The global cultural festival organized by the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) was a grand success. Over 18,300 Telugu-speaking people participated in these programs across various locations. The festival, held from July 24 to August 2, 2020, spanned an entire week and saw participation from 18,000 attendees. This success was not the result of the efforts of just a few but was achieved through the hard work and dedication of every individual involved.
The event showcased the grandeur of Telugu language and culture through programs such as "Soundaryalahari," "Telugu Velugu," "Ragam Manjari," "Nadamrutham," "Andela Ravali," "Kalakruthi," and "Rangastalam." These programs highlighted the rich heritage of Telugu language and arts. The organizers emphasized that the preservation of Telugu language and culture is of paramount importance and appreciated TANA's efforts in achieving this.
The festival included eight major categories with 32 sub-segments, demonstrating the interconnectedness of world cultures with the essence of Telugu heritage.
TANA aimed to enrich children’s skills and creativity through these programs.
The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) celebrated the International Father’s Day event under the theme "Nanna, Neeku Namaskaram" (Father, Salutations to You) on June 21, 2020, with grandeur in a virtual format.
Under the leadership of the TANA Harrisburg Team, lunch boxes from Parivar Indian Restaurant were distributed to staff at Hershey Hospital. Additionally, face shields were provided for COVID-19 protection. The hospital staff expressed gratitude to the team for their thoughtful contributions. This initiative was carried out with the support of Dr. Vamsi Jakkampudi.
The TANA Mid-Atlantic Harrisburg team distributed lunch boxes to medical staff at Geisinger-Holy Spirit Hospital to thank them for their dedicated service during the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative, part of TANA's COVID-19 relief efforts, was led by TANA President Jay Talluri and other leaders. Hospital staff expressed gratitude for the team's support. The event was supported by Parivar Restaurant and local sponsors.
TANA Philadelphia donated $8000 to the Phoenixville Area School District Food Pantry to ensure school children had access to food during COVID-19 closures. The donation was presented on June 15 by young volunteers to the district supervisor, Dr. Peggy, at Barkley Elementary School. This marks TANA's third contribution to schools, reflecting its commitment to helping students during challenging times.
