The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) organized a successful Independence Day Cup Volleyball Tournament in New Jersey. Held on September 21 at the All Seasons Sports Complex, the tournament featured 32 teams from multiple states, including New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The event lasted 16 hours and drew a large audience.
The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) successfully conducted the 2020 North Region Badminton and Table Tennis Championship in Northville, Michigan. The event received an excellent response, with over 150 players and 75 teams participating.
The tournaments were highly competitive, with participants showcasing remarkable talent and enthusiasm, making the event a grand success.
TANA Celebrates Telangana Language Day on Kaloji Jayanti
On September 9, 2020, the TANA World Literary Forum celebrated Telangana Language Day to honor the birth anniversary of Kaloji Narayana Rao. Distinguished guests, including Telangana government advisors, poets, and scholars, participated in the event. Special performances of Telangana songs were presented by the Little Musicians Academy. TANA President Jay Talluri and the organizing team successfully showcased Telangana's literary and cultural richness, paying tribute to Kaloji's legacy.
The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) Atlanta team organized a picnic at Unicoi State Park in Helen, from August 31 to September 2. Around 200 people participated in this outing, with various activities arranged for children and adults. The event began on August 31 at 11:30 AM with everyone arriving at Helen and starting the day with interactions. On September 1, participants enjoyed activities like water sports, zip lining, kayaking, scavenger hunts, and archery.
On August 30, 2020, the TANA World Literary Forum organized a discussion program titled "Prasara Sahiti." The event celebrated the role of radio in promoting the richness of the Telugu language and literature. Speakers highlighted and appreciated the contributions of distinguished individuals from Akashvani (All India Radio) who played a key role in enhancing and propagating Telugu literature.
The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) Charlotte team organized a successful tennis tournament at Hornet's Nest Park. With participation from 32 teams, the event was highly competitive and engaging. TANA President Jay Talluri congratulated the team for their efforts in making the tournament a grand success.
Under the auspices of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA), the Ohio Valley Women’s Cricket Tournament was successfully organized. The event witnessed participation from over 400 women athletes. The tournament, which initially began under the leadership of Dr. Jampala Chowdary, continued during Satish Vemana’s term and was later conducted grandly under the presidency of Jay Talluri. A total of 8 teams participated, showcasing talent and sportsmanship.
As part of the TANA Backpack Program, school bags and supplies were distributed to high school students in Pennsylvania on August 20, 2020. The event, held at Lourdes Pantry in Downingtown, provided 100 school bags to underprivileged students. TANA Secretary Ravi Potluri and Mid-Atlantic Chair Gopi Vagwala led the initiative, with support from H2C (Help Care Comfort) and local volunteers. This program aimed to support students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The TANA Michigan Chapter, in collaboration with Livonia Shirdi Sai Temple, distributed over 300 school bags to underprivileged students in schools across the Detroit and Farmington areas. This initiative aimed to support students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
