TANA Los Angeles hosted a Bone Marrow drive at Jordan High School, Long Beach (Address: 6500 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA 90805) on Saturday January14th, 2017 during the LATA's Sankranti Mela Celebrations as part of new TANA Service initiative TANA CARES.
The drive kicked off with Volunteers enthusiastically setting up the TANA booth and with brief orientation from Hope from “Be the Match Registry”. Volunteers worked tirelessly to motivate the attendees to participate in the drive by explaining in detail the objective to promote enrollment of people of our ethnicity in the registry so that it becomes easier in future to help victims of blood cancers and other blood diseases that benefit from bone marrow transplantation. It was heartening to see that all the bone marrow swab kits provided were completed with people registering and volunteers further had to refer to online registrations which show the awareness that was created by our dedicated volunteers.
