About Telugu Language Promotion
For the past few years, TANA (Telugu Association of North America) has been working towards promotion Telugu Language in United States. TANA has successfully established Telugu Language at Undergraduate Level at several prestigious american universities. In Year 2003, the language was introduced in University of Michigan. From Year 2007 onwards, Telugu will be introduced at University of Texas, Austin. TANA has conducted Telugu Language Competetions for Kids at various cities.
In the recent months, TANA has observed that bleak future of Telugu Language in Andhra Pradesh. It was also noted that several volunteers, with their own interest, expense and time, are working towards bringing Governnment and People’s attention towards this issue. To encourage and be a part of these volunteers, TANA has decided to conduct a day long event to promote the cause and the Language.
On December 29th, TANA is organizing an Intellectual Discussion Forum from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Telugu University. Prior to the discussions, the organizing committee will collect write ups from the speakers and will publish a book to save and secure this knowledge for future references.
The main event will be conducted on December 30th, at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad from 9:00 AM – 9:30 PM (with lunch, snack and dinner breaks).

Awards

Four years ago TANA started recognizing scholars who provided valuable services for Telugu Language. TANA has established “Gidugu Rammurthy Pantulu Memorial Award” in Year 2002. A three member panel in Andhra Pradesh reviews and proposes eligible scholars to TANA, where the final decision is made. First time this award was given to Sri. Chekuri Rama Rao in 2002. In year 2004 this award was given to Sri. Bhadri Raju Krishna Murthy.

Gidugu Rammurthy Panthulu Memorial Award

This award, along with a cash prize of 50,000 INR, is given to the scholar who has provided valuable services to Telugu Language.

Rallies
To increase the awareness about the past, present and the future of Telugu Language, TANA is conducting preliminary Rallies in various district head quarters. These rallies will be conducted on the eve of Late Sri. Potti Sree Ramulu Vardhanthi, on December 15th. The conclusion rally will occur on December 30th in Hyderabad.

TANA and Potti Sree Ramulu Telugu University are requesting individuals to come forward and conduct Rallies in their districts in support of Telugu Language. If you are interested in conducting the Rally in your district, please contact Sri. Jurru Chennaih at 94400 49323 or Sri. T. Gowri Shanker at 94400 69130.

So far, we were able to secure interest in approximately 20 districts. The names will be published after getting final confirmation from the districts.

About: On 30th December, TANA and Telugu University are conducting a Rally in support of Telugu Language, requesting the Prime Minister to provide Telugu the Praacheena Bhaasha status. This rally will start from Telugu Talli Statue (or) Telugu University [waiting for police clearance] and will end at Ravindra Bharathi.
Who can participate: Individuls who respect and have concern for Telugu Language.
Corporation Participation: Through a unique opportunity provided by TANA, Corporations can participate in this Rally and show their support for the Telugu Language. In the Rally lot of banners will be displayed with various slogans. If a corporation wants to show their solidarity with us, TANA at its own expense, will get the Corporation Name written on a Banner. However, the company is required to send two of their own employees to carry the banner in the Rally. In addition, the Corporation is also required to sign and submit an acceptance form, giving TANA the approval to write the Corporation Name on the banner.
