THE WOMEN’S FORUM 2005
Frequently asked questions:
What is the purpose of the women’s forum?
The Telugu Immigrants and the children growing up in the immigrant families are faced with several distinct and difficult issues. There is no family with out any issues or problems.
There are no easy answers or solutions to these problems. The women’s forum is an attempt to inquire into these issues, try to understand and elicit some responses.
Who can attend the women’s forum? Is it just for women?
The women’s forum is organized by women. This is not limited to women. Women do not live in seclusion. Grand fathers, fathers, brothers, husbands and sons all are part of women’s lives. It is due to the relentless efforts of several great men that women are able to move forward from historically subjugated and suppressed states. There are significant changes in the roles and responsibilities of immigrant men too. This forum is for men, women and young adults. (16 years and above)
What is in this forum?
If life is a journey, as immigrant Telugus, where have we reached? And which direction are we going? Based on this theme there are several topics in two sessions. (See the separate page)
Please start thinking about these issues today. Bring your responses, experiences and expertise. Participate in the discussions. (There will be short presentations followed by ample time for discussion) Please contribute to this evolution.
